MISSION STATEMENT: 

Glendora Community Church Children and Family Ministry is committed to nurturing children in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and in strengthening their homes in order that Christ may be honored in word and deed.

MINISTRY BACKGROUND: 

J. Howard (Howie) Briggs is Associate Pastor for children and family ministry at Glendora Community Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Howie previously served at Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene from 1992 to 2001, at Chicago First Church of the Nazarene from 1984 to 1992, and at Kansas City Shawnee Church of the Nazarene from 1980 to 1984.

Pastor Howie is a 1975 graduate of Eastern Nazarene College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. He received a Master's degree in Divinity (M. Div.) from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1981. Pastor Howie is an ordained minister who enjoys stepping into children's lives and helping them to know the joy of being a Christian. Anyone who has ever ministered to children knows that they are a challenging group. It takes a special blend of gifts, truth and a lot of
humor to reach them...Howie has that special blend of gifts and
compassion.

In addition to his pastoral experience, Pastor Howie taught fifth grade for two years in the public education school system. He has facilitated parenting workshops and seminars throughout the country. He also has extensive experience as a featured speaker at camps and outreach events.
