We desire to demonstrate Christ’s love and care for Transitional Age Foster Youth students by creating and supporting CONNECTIONS— to God, to themselves, to the GCC community, to each other, and to helpful community resources— to promote growth toward healthy independence.
Some of the activities we do for transitional age foster youth students at Citrus College:
Provide a lunch for them once a month at the college
Celebrate their birthday with a personalized home made blanket
Provide mentorship relationships
Provide special Thanksgiving meal
Provide special Christmas meal with Christmas stockings
Coordinate classes provided by community partners for the students to learn skills to help towards independence
Assist with various needs that come up for the students throughout the year for example; obtaining a bicycle, help with moving, providing extra food, etc.
